Thanksgiving Recipe for Grandma's Stuffing Balls

With Thanksgiving upon us I thought I would share a few of my favorite family recipes. These stuffing balls came about when I was first married 30 + years ago, what do you do when you combine different family traditions? Well, we did our best to improvise. I hope you will try this recipe, My German grandmother would stuff our turkey with this stuffing recipe, I altered it and now you can use it for a side anytime, or put on a sandwich for the day after. Thanksgiving Recipe for Grandma's Stuffing Balls

Grandma's Stuffing Balls

In a large bowl combine the following ingredients:

1 lb. ground sirloin
1 lb. sausage
2 eggs
1 stick melted butter
1 can french chestnuts (chopped)
1 lb. mushrooms (chopped)
1 onion (chopped)
salt and pepper to taste
1 pkg. plain croutons
1 small package gingersnaps

mix ingredients together and place in freezer until ready to use. Thaw and make into 2 inch balls, place on greased jelly roll pan and bake in a 350 degree oven for 40 minutes or until golden brown. Place on a beautiful platter and serve alongside your favorite turkey, beef, seafood or chicken dish. Enjoy!
